Deborah Kang Gentzen is an expert strategic planner with deep experience translating organization vision into tangible goals. In her role as vice president and chief strategy officer for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), Debby leads efforts across the organization to define strategic vision and create action plans that both serve current cancer patients and support research initiatives that will benefit future patients. She has direct responsibility for operational functions including research integration and areas such as business development, marketing, service line management and SCCA¹s community network affiliation. Debby joined SCCA in 2008 as an administrator where she was instrumental in bringing proton therapy, specialized form of radiation therapy, to the Pacific Northwest.
Prior to joining SCCA, Debby served as system director of strategic services for Providence Health and Services. In that role she led key system-wide initiatives, including planning and support for Providence’s management systems and structures. Debby has worked with Premera Blue Cross in strategy, performance improvement and business development roles, as well as CSC Index, the global management consulting subsidiary of CSC. She began her career with Procter and Gamble Company as a product development manager. Debby is a member of the Washington Lung Force Women¹s Cabinet. She serves on the Board of Directors of Seattle ProCure Holdings, LLC and is a former member of the YMCA Camping Services board.
Debby holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Refining from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Debby and her husband Mark are proud parents of three daughters.
