Portia Moore is an accomplished employment litigator with nearly three decades of trial experience. She has led a number of complex, high-profile litigation matters over her career and defended clients against numerous wrongful termination, retaliation, and employment discrimination claims. Before joining private practice, Portia served as assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington and worked as a registered nurse before pursuing a legal career.
As one of the few African-American attorneys to attain partnership in a large, international law firm in the Seattle area, Portia is dedicated to helping diversify the legal profession. She serves as chair of DWT’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which focuses on attracting, retaining and advancing diverse attorneys at the firm, as well as building pipeline initiatives to broaden opportunities into the legal profession for more young minorities and women.
Portia is active in the Loren Miller Bar Association and currently serves on the Association’s judicial evaluation committee – evaluating judicial candidates for, among other things, their sensitivity to issues affecting diverse citizens.
Portia also regularly takes the opportunity to speak with and mentor female and diverse law students – serving as a coach to Seattle University’s mock trial teams, and speaking to female law students about best practices for succeeding and thriving in the legal profession.
In recognition of her leadership and contributions, Portia was honored as a Woman Pioneer by the Loren Miller Bar Association and selected to serve on the DirectWomen Board Institute.
